CARFIN Cross was brought to a standstill last night (Thursday) as firefighters battled a blaze at the former mosque building.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following numerous calls around 6.50pm.
More than 20 firefighters from the Motherwell and Bellshill stations tackled the blaze using hose reel jets as well as an aerial rescue pump.
Crews then worked with building control personnel through the night to ensure the building was structurally safe.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now under way.
