Hamilton Presbytery has elected the Rev Fiona Nicolson, minister of New St Andrew’s Church in Coatbridge as Moderator for 2014/15.

The Rev Nicolson takes up the post in succession to the Rev Dr Lindsay Schluter of Larkhall Trinity Church who has completed her 12 months in the role.

The appointment was made at the September meeting of Presbytery in Motherwell’s Dalziel St Andrew’s Church.

The Rev Nicolson said: “I am extraordinarily humbled at the opportunity to be Moderator.

“I am going to do my very best to live up to the role - and will need everyone’s support and prayers.”

On taking up her new role, the former convener of the Parish Development Committee relinquishes her role as a member of the Pastoral Support Committee.

As parish minister, she is chaplain of Greenhill and Drumpark Primary Schools.

Hamilton Presbytery has this month launched a new website at www.presbyteryofhamilton.co.uk.

The Rev Nicholson said: “The website is going to be a useful way of communicating and keep up to date with one another.”
