PUPILS and staff at St Teresa’s Primary School in Newarthill enjoyed a variety of Christmas and other activities in the run-up to the festive season.

The school’s traditional nativity and carol service was one of the main events with the highlights including the performance of Niamh Cusick, a member of the North Lanarkshire Prep Band, who entertained with a selection of Christmas carols and songs on her trumpet.

Primary 7 pupils at the school also took part in the Ultimate Dance Challenge 2012 in support of the Save the Children Fund.

This sponsored dance event took place in the Ravenscraig Sports Facility and was organised by the Born to Dance Group in conjunction with North Lanarkshire Council.

And the St Teresa’s pupils who participated in the event were presented with a special certificate for their efforts in raising the sum of £494.

In addition, as a special Christmas treat, the circus came to town with a special visit to St Teresa’s.

The pupils were treated to a performance and then took part in workshops and a great time was had by all.
