THE COMMUNITY of Motherwell are preparing to say goodbye this week to a much-loved janitor who served a local school for 25 years.

James Boyle, known as Jim or Jimmy, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Monday not long after celebrating his 80th birthday.

He was well-known in the town for the years he spent as a janitor at Cathedral Primary School.

He worked at the school between 1971 and 1996 before leaving the post to George Smith, who also died this year as reported in the Times & Speaker in February.

For full story, see this week’s Times & Speaker dated Thursday, November 3.
