THE second annual family fun day at Crofthead Park in Uddingston will take place on Saturday, September 1.
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, organisers Uddingston Community Council have again lined up a wide range of activities and attractions to suit all ages.
They will include a toddlers’ play area, skating ramp (weather permitting), inflatables (pirate ship, chute and spaceship), birds of prey, stalls, magician and balloons, chairoplane ride, football game, pipers and dancers, children’s fancy dress competition, tombola and tea and coffee in the David Milne Centre.
The event will take place from noon to 4pm and admission will be free.
The community council decided to organise the event last year to promote the park as a community facility after it was saved from redevelopment when an action group, supported by the Community Council, fought a successful campaign to prevent developers building a new medical centre on part of the site.
Community council chairperson Ann Rafferty said: “Last year’s event was very successful and we’ve got a few more things this time so hopefully people will turn out again.
“We were very lucky with the weather last year so fingers crossed that it’s the same again.”
