Motorists are being warned to expect delays on the A8 east and westbound on approach to Shawhead Junction, from 8pm tonight (Friday) until 6am on Monday.
The A8 carriageway will be reduced to one lane on approach to Shawhead Junction, alternating between the eastbound and westbound carriageways.
During this time, access to the slip roads at Shawhead, east and westbound, will be maintained.
This traffic management is required to facilitate works to widen the bridge at Shawhead Junction as part of the £500m M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project.
A spokesman for Transport Scotland said: “Transport Scotland is working with the contractor to ensure these works are completed as quickly as possible, however, delays are expected.
“Road users are advised to routinely check the Transport Scotland and Traffic Scotland websites for updates on this key route between Glasgow and Edinburgh, to plan their journeys in advance and to look at taking an alternative route if possible.”
