A special event aimed at breaking down barriers between ethnic minorities and the wider community will be held in Motherwell later this week.

Entitled ‘Karibu’ - meaning ‘welcome in Swahili - the event is being organised by Best Way Community Development, a Motherwell-based organisation set up by ethnic community members living in the area, mainly from the Democratic Republic of Congo, to foster links with the local community.

It will coincide with Refugee Week Scotland 2014 and will take place at Forgewood Community Centre on Wednesday, June 25, from 10amto 4pm.

The group will screen their new film ‘British Passport’, a docu-drama, which will be followed by discussion.

There will also be Nigerian and Congolese dancing and an African hairdressing and fashion display.

All are welcome.
