Scotland’s largest local and family history show will take place at Motherwell Theatre and Concert Hall on Saturday, August 22.

Organised by Lanarkshire Family History Society, it has become a regular event on the calendar, appealing to everyone with an interest in family history and local heritage.

Various national bodies will be there and lcoal exhibitors will include North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre, North Lanarkshire Archives, NLC Greenspace, Lanarkshire Yeomanry, Viewpark Conservation Group and the Friends of Cambusnethan Priory.

Pupils from Our Lady’s High, Dalziel High and Braidhurst High will be displaying their projects, along with youngsters from St Teresa’s and Newarthill Primaries.

There will be activities for children and free workshops on family history topics.

Professional genealogists from the Scottish Genealogy Network will join members of Lanarkshire FHS in the ‘Ask the Experts’ area to offer free one-to-one advice to anyone starting to research their family history or who has hit a ‘brick wall’.

Information about tickets and an up-to-date list of exhibitors is available on the show website LFHS Entry costs £2 with talks £4 each or £14 for all four. Buying one or more talk tickets allows free entry to the show. Children under 12 are admitted free with a paying adult. The show is on from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
