A DISABLED driver has hit out at North Lanarkshire Council after being asked to move his car without notice to make way for workers carrying out improvements to a Motherwell tower block.
The driver, who is a blue badge holder, claims that the workers called him on the intercom system at Brandon Tower last Thursday morning and advised he would have to move his car so that they could prepare for overcladding works.
The workers presented the driver with a pass to exempt him from parking charges and he was directed to the nearby Menteith Road car park.
The driver, who did not want to be named, said: “There was no communication that this was happening and I am not happy.
“My vehicle is over the other side of the railway line and I have to walk over 500 yards to access it.
“You do not get a blue badge unless you have a medical problem, and expecting myself and other drivers to walk to and from the other car park is not right.”
