PUPILS and staff at Motherwell’s Cathedral Primary School are preparing to say a sad farewell to their much-loved janitor.

George Smith, from Mossend, passed away suddenly on Friday.

The 61-year-old, who has worked at the school for the past 17 years, had been off ill with an unconnected chest infection.

George, a popular member of staff over the years, is survived by his wife Anne, son George and daughter Jacqueline as well as grandchildren Erin and Casey, and twins Christopher and Cara.

His funeral took place yesterday (Wednesday) at the Holy Family Church in Mossend.
