A PARK in Uddingston which protestors fought to save from redevelopment is to be used as the venue for a community family fun day later this year.
The event is being organised by Uddingston Community Council and will take place at Crofthead Park on Saturday, September 3.
Villagers formed an action group to fight to save the park last year after South Lanarkshire Council agreed to lease part of the site to developers planning to build a new medical centre.
Their campaign ended in success earlier this year when the Lincluden Surgery decided to scrap plans to use Crofthead for their new premises and opted to ask NHS Lanarkshire to make the former medical rehabilitation unit site available instead.
Now, following the reprieve, it has been decided to use the park for what it is hoped can become an annual community event.
