Cemetery visitors over Christmas have been urged to look out for heartless thieves who steal holly wreaths from graves.
The problem was particularly bad at Bothwellpark Cemetery last year, according to one man.
Owen Brady said a wreath he laid at his sister’s grave was stolen and he was told by a worker there that around 30 seasonal tributes had been taken.
The thieves either keep them to decorate their home or make a quick buck by selling them.
Mr Brady, of New Stevenston, said: “This sort of thing should not be happening in a cemetery. It’s an absolute disgrace.
“I would urge visitors to be vigilant. They should be looking out for anything suspicious, like wreaths being loaded into a van.”
