A Motherwell man has been put on the sex offenders’ register for three years for making indecent comments to young girls.

Kevin Ford (29), of Ashton Street, was convicted of two charges after trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He denied making the lewd remarks but was found guilty. Ford used to live in Flaxmill Avenue, Craigneuk, and committed the offences in Craigneuk.

The first victim was aged nine when he targeted her in 2008 and the second girl was 13 when comments of a sexually explicit nature were made to her last August.

Passing sentence, Sheriff Ray Small told Ford, who has a previous conviction for public indecency, he will be supervised closely for the three years he is on the sex offenders’ register and might have to attend an offenders’ groupwork project.
