The owner of a sports supplement business has walked free after illegal steroids were seized during a raid outside his premises.
George Sneddon (34), who lived in Doon Street, Motherwell, faced a string of charges relating to the Class C drugs, but had his not guilty pleas accepted at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Co-accused Alexander Haley (28), believed to be from Netherton, was jailed for 19 months. He admitted being concerned in the supply of four types of illegal bodybuilding drugs, including testosterone, outside GS Nutrition, Etna Industrial Estate, Craigneuk, in June last year.
Paul Brown (46), of Laurel Drive, Craigneuk, and Carol Gilfillan (28), of Kirkhill Road, Netherton, also had not guilty pleas to drug supply charges accepted.
The court heard Haley had been freed early from a jail term for drug dealing when he was caught in his car with a stash of steroids worth up to £855.
His solicitor, John Costello, claimed Haley was only a courier and wouldn’t have made any money from the deal.
It’s understood GS Nutrition is no longer trading and Sneddon now works in the double glazing business. Occupiers of units at the Etna estate said his premises closed down after the police raid.
More from the court in this week’s Times & Speaker, out on Wednesday.
