A housebreaker has been jailed for 20 months after targeting homes in Motherwell.
John Paul Chambers (35), a prisoner, was sentenced at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
He admitted stealing watches, cash and jewellery after breaking into two houses - in Kirkland Street and Lamlash Place - on January 29 this year.
Chambers also admitted possession of heroin when he was arrested.
Chambers has previous convictions, but Sheriff Thomas Millar reduced the sentence from 30 months in view of his early guilty plea.
The sheriff also backdated the 20-month stretch to January 30 as Chambers has been in custody since then. It’s likely that, with good behaviour, the crook will be freed by the end of November.
