A man who has persistently ignored court orders to stay away from his ex-partner has been jailed for nine months.

Thomas McTavish (44), of Spruce Way, Holytown, was also handed a five-year non-harassment order at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted shouting abuse, banging on a door and threatening to murder Marion Brown outside her home in Kelvin Road, Bellshill, on October 24. He also admitted trying to phone her.

McTavish further admitted breaching a two-year order imposed in March this year which banned him from contacting Ms Brown and entering the street where she lives.

At the court hearing in March he was also jailed for nine months.
