An assault victim from Motherwell says he’s astonished that prosecutors accept no weapon was used to inflict these nasty injuries.
Joe Tonner was attacked by his stepson at a family New Year gathering.
The 53-year-old reckons he was lucky not to lose his eye and said nurses told him a glass must have been used to cause wounds to his forehead.
However, Mr Tonner was stunned to hear prosecutors had accepted Damien Armit (21) used only his fists in the assault.
Armit was jailed for 13 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court when he admitted punching his stepdad repeatedly. The Crown Office insisted this week there was ‘no evidence whatsover’ that a weapon was used.
But Mr Tonner said: “There is no justice. I can’t believe what they are saying.”
