A cannabis farm was uncovered by council staff called to a flood at a Motherwell tower.

It’s understood plants and growing equipment were seized from Coursington Tower.

Lorraine Anderson, of North Lanarkshire Council, said of last week’s raid: “Staff responded to a report of a flood and with the tenants not being home we had to gain access to two flats to identify and repair the source of the leak.

“While inside one property employees noticed plants they suspected were illegal. After completion of police enquiries we will take the necessary action against our tenant.”
