PLANS are well under way for this year’s Viewpark Gala Day following the successful revival of the event last year after a gap of almost a quarter of a century.

The organising committee have set Saturday, June 22, as the date for this year’s event.

The parade will leave from Viewpark Community Education Centre and make its way down to Burnhead Community Centre and there will be various activities on the day for all the family to enjoy.

However as well as organising events for the day itself, the committee are also continuing their fundraising programme to help meet the costs of putting on the gala.

A fun night extravaganza will be held in Burnhead Community Centre on Saturday, April 6, from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £3 and included in the fun for the evening will be a Mr & Mrs competition, quiz and Irish bingo.

The committee would like to thank the local community for its support but are still seeking to recruit more volunteers.

They can be contacted via their Facebook page or by phoning North Lanarkshire Council community learning and development worker Irene Lester on 01698 274662.
