Members of Uddingston Pride and Brighter Bothwell have been tidying up the villages during their annual clean-up campaign.
Both experienced a lower than usual turnout, but in Uddingston a record number of bags were filled, while in Bothwell 90 bags were filled from going round the nature trail, The Glebe, the Livingstone Memorial Bridge, Woodene Park and Ferry Road.
The two groups will be hoping their efforts goes some way to improving their chances in the Britain In Bloom awards with Uddingston and Bothwell entered in the urban and small town categories respectively.
Uddingston Pride chairwoman Liz Wilson thanked the children who went along for their efforts and the adults who worked extremely hard to compensate for the poor response.
In Bothwell, Green Central Scotland list candidate Kirsten Robb joined in and said: “Brighter Bothwell work hard to involve people in improving their environment and keep it nice for everyone to enjoy and that’s a great thing.”
