GROUPS and clubs in Jerviston are celebrating after a £37,000 refurbishment to the area’s community centre.

A number of improvements have been made including painting inside and out, upgraded toilets and a revamp of the creche facilities.

The work was part of North Lanarkshire Council’s programme of community centre improvements, with proposals to refurbish Calderbank, Forgewood and Calder community centres being planned.

Councillor Jim Logue, convener of learning and leisure services, said: “The refurbished facility will benefit the entire community and is already used for homework clubs, computing classes, parenting and life skill classes and by youth groups.”
