CARE facilities for the elderly at a Bellshill community centre have been given a boost thanks to a refurbishment supported by donations from various local companies.

The day care unit at Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre has been given a new look - and the firms who supported the initiative have received special presentations to thank them for their efforts.

Commemorative plaques, designed by Winning Awards of Coatbridge, were presented to representatives from funeral directors Joseph Potts, Co-op and John Clark.

The unit, staffed by full-time, qualified staff members, trainees, students and volunteers, offers support and care to the elderly members of the community and their carers with the aim of enabling them to maintain their independence by continuing to live within their own community.
