St Brendan’s Primary in Motherwell bid farewell to Mary McCoach last week as the teacher took early retirement after 25 years at the school.

Mary, who has taught P7 for the last 13 years, was honoured for her service to the school at a special assembly on Friday.

Due to the introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence and the influx of new technology, she felt this was the right time to leave and is now looking forward to enjoying long lunches, shopping and following football, specifically Celtic FC.

Mary graduated from Notre Dame College, Bearsden, in 1976 and worked at St Mary’s Primary in Duntocher for 12 years prior to moving to St Brendan’s.
