Scottish Government food and drink secretary Richard Lochhead heaped praise on Uddingston biscuit firm Tunnock’s during a visit to the factory.

He congratulated the company and its workforce on buoyant sales figures, noting how it has tried to broaden its scope by entering new and emerging markets - besides retaining its strong presence at home.

He said: “They are playing a part in Scotland’s food and drink success story, and it’s important that other firms look to increase sales at home and abroad if we are to meet our ambitious turnover target of £16.5bn turnover by 2017.”
