This is the third year that Royal Mail has opened a dedicated network of parcel sort centres, with ten in total across the UK.

The nine other centres are in Livingston, Leeds, Heywood in Greater Manchester, Tamworth, Llantrisant in South Wales, Swindon, Greenford, Peterborough and Northampton employing a total of 4,000 temporary workers, part of the Royal Mail’s 21,000 seasonal staff.

The use of additional temporary parcel sort centres is now an integral part of Royal Mail’s substantial financial commitment in additional resources at Christmas operation to handle the festive mail bag.

Royal Mail delivery director Gerry McAuley, said: “Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail and our customers.

“Royal Mail has again invested in the Eurocentral site to increase our scale and improve our flexibility during this important time of year for our customers.
