A Carfin DJ who began selling t-shirts during trips to Ibiza opens his first store this week.

Fraser Stuart was working in clubs on the island when he teamed up with Candy Apple, a label popular among clubbers.

When he returned home he set up a website selling his own Ovosi clothing range which he operated from his flat.

However, as orders grew and more people asked to try on the clothes he realised that having a shop was necessary.

On Friday the first Ovosi store opens in Manse Road after taking over former sweet shop premises.

Fraser said: “I was starting to get 30-40 orders a week on the website and people wanted to try stuff on, which is understandable, but it’s not exactly professional to have them come round to your spare room.

“As such I realised I needed a shop, a friend’s dad owned the premises so I asked if I could take them on.

“It has been a lot of hard work getting the shop ready for Friday’s opening, but hopefully it will all prove worth it and I’d love to think this will just be the first in a chain of Ovosi shops.

“Some people have asked why I didn’t open a store in Glasgow, but the rent would just be unthinkable, this is a busy street so I reckon it is a perfect location to get started.

“As a bonus I’m a Motherwell fan so it’s nice to be able to see Fir Park every day.”
