North Lanarkshire swimmers, footballers and golfers set off tomorrow (Thursday) for the International Children’s Games in Australia.
The squad includes Holytown brothers William and Thomas Balfour who will compete against each other in the swimming events.
William (14) and 13-year-old Thomas are pupils at Brannock High School and members of Bellshill Sharks ASC.
They are breast stroke specialists and Thomas is the current Scottish 200m champion while William was Scottish 100m champion two years ago.
Proud mum Natalie said: “They’re always racing each other. In fact they don’t seem to care who beats them as long as they beat each other!”
North Lanarkshire’s football squad includes Dalziel High’s Callum Kinviv and Braidhurst’s Dylan Falconer, Jake Hastie, Rico Quitongo and Tom Leighton.
The squad, coaches and officials met up at the Alona Hotel before they left. It all starts at Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, on Saturday.
