Lanarkshire voters were up bright and early this morning to vote in the independence referendum.

Some were so eager to have their say they were filing in to polling stations as soon as they opened at 7am.

That was the case at St Bride’s Primary School in Bothwell where one observer said: “There were up to 20 people in a queue here when I arrived at quarter to seven this morning and there’s been a steady flow of voters since the polling station opened.”
