A Holytown family have their hearts set on launching a new fundraising venture - and they’re urging Times & Speaker readers to support it.
The family of toddler Robbie Hughes, who was born with Tetralogy of Fallot - a form of congenital heart disease - have been inspired by the popular ice bucket challenge as they prepare to mark his second birthday next month.
Mum Hollie and dad Kevin are hoping Times & Speaker readers will join them in taking selfies with their fingers in a love heart shape and then post them on Facebook and Twitter. Participants are urged to text FIGHT to 70707 to donate £3 to the BHF.
Hollie said: “Robbie has come a long way from being told he wouldn’t survive and facing two major heart operations to become a happy, cheeky boy who will be two in a few weeks time.
“So to help fund more research for congenital heart defects and help babies like Robbie to survive, I nominate everyone to post your heart selfie and donate to the BHF.
