ARRANGEMENTS are now in place for next week’s Bellshill Street Fair - with the organisers hoping it will be a right royal occasion.
Organised by Bellshill Community Council, the event has been moved from its traditional end-of-May slot to the beginning of June, in light of the switch of date of the normal holiday weekend to coincide with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The event will be given royal approval when it is opened on Saturday, June 2, by Lord Lieutenant Mushtaq Ahmad, Her Majesty’s representative in Lanarkshire.
The opening ceremony will take place at 11am next to the Bank of Scotland in Main Street and once again the main focus on the Saturday will be on the wide variety of local groups and organisations running stalls to raise much needed funds and increase awareness of their work.
There will also be face painting and home knitting plus the usual variety of rides and attractions.
There will be further attractions on the Sunday and Monday - for the full story see May 23 edition of the Bellshill Speaker.
