Bank funding boost for Samaritans

A CHARITY which helps people in Lanarkshire who are suicidal, in despair or distressed has received a grant of £4,500.

The Samaritans has been awarded the funds by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland to help with the cost of running its Hamilton centre.

The group has 91 trained and dedicated listening volunteers.

It works in secondary schools as part of the ‘Choose Life’ project, with talks given on self-harming and emotional health.

Groups of volunteers also visit Shotts Prison.
