A BELLSHILL lad will begin the new year a fully qualified heavy vehicle technician after successfully completing his apprenticeship.
James Meek (20) has spent the last three years studying and is set to embark on a career with DAF Trucks.
James undertook an apprenticeship on the DAF Trucks National Dealer Apprentice Programme, receiving college tuition at the DAF Centre of Learning in Bristol, and has been working for Imperial Commercials in Bellshill for the past three years, getting hands on experience in the workshop.
His hard work was recognised this year when he was a finalist at the 2010 DAF Apprentice of the Year awards, receiving a commemorative plaque, certificate and 50 tool voucher.
James said: "The last three years have been fantastic. I have learnt a lot from my training at college and in the workshop.
"My apprenticeship has proved to be a great way to get on-the-job training and has provided me with the skills I needed to become a fully qualified heavy vehicle technician."
