Another youth has been arrested in connection with hoax bomb calls to schools.

The development came 24 hours after Bellshill Academy was evacuated following a threat on Tuesday.

Last month there was a similar alarm at Taylor High School in New Stevenston and schools in several other areas have also been affected.

A police spokesman said: “A 15-year-old boy from the Glasgow area was arrested in connection with a number of the alleged incidents in Clydebank and Lanarkshire. A report will be submitted the procurator fiscal.”

The boy is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today. Other boys arrested were aged 15 and 16.

None of the accused can be named because they are under 18.
