ANGRY councillors this week hit out over delays in putting up a new road safety barrier outside Bellshill Academy.
The councillors had expected it to be done within six weeks of raising the matter in mid-September, following concerns expressed by the school’s parent council.
Officials agreed to reinstate the railing - taken away during North Lanarkshire Council’s Bellshill town centre upgrade and replaced with a set of lights further along from the school entrance - after a pupil was almost struck by a car while crossing Main Street.
Bellshill councillors Harry Curran and Harry McGuigan took up the issue and a temporary barrier was set up, but last week the council said it would be January before the permament barrier was in place.
