THE local air training corp which meets in Motherwell is holding an open day on Saturday, October 8, in a bid to attract new members.
The 498 (Wishaw) Squadron for boys and girls aged 13-18 meets on Wednesdays and Fridays in Scottish Rifle House (the TA Centre) on Muir Street.
The open day takes place from 10am-1pm and will feature a drill display, robot building, a first aid demonstration and a display of the squadron’s achievements including those made through the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
There will also be a tombola and a tuck shop on the day.
The organisation is affiliated with the Royal Air Force and cadets can spend weekends at RAF Leuchars, as well as enjoying a week-long camp in Ireland..
There are many prizes and trophies to be won both locally and at national level.
