A pirate’s life for me

ST Gerard’s Primary in Bellshill shivered timbers and swashed buckles to celebrate the end of its Lenten charity fundraising.

The culmination of weeks of activity in aid of St Andrew’s Hospice, HCTP (Pilgrimage Trust) and SCIAF saw the school hold a pirate fun day.

The whole day was given a nautical theme as each class rotated around a series of activities which including making pirate treats, wanted posters and playing pirate games on the computers.

The main hall was also given over to a funfair, with children paying 20p for each go at the games, as well as sponsored relay race.

Other activities during the period of Lent included an Easter egg tombola, a rafle, 3D modelling competition, cake and candy, and a bring and buy sale.

A total of £1,572 was raised which will be divided between the three charities and presented later in the session. The school wishes to thank Tunnock’s, Mr Michael Florists in Bellshill, NISA in Bellshill, LIDL in Coatbridge and Scotmid for their support.
