North Lanarkshire’s arts development team from learning and leisure services is running a new series of arts classes which will appeal to children, young people and adults of all abilities.
As part of the new programme anyone aged 15 years and over is invited to an informal but stimulating creative writing master class on Saturday at Bellshill Cultural Centre.
The three hour workshop will be taken by guest tutor Kathrine Sowersby who graduated with a masters degree in creative writing from Glasgow University in 2010.
Her previous background and education however is in the visual arts with a BA (hons) in drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art and a masters of fine art at Glasgow School of Art.
Marketing officer Graham McAdam said: “This mix of the visual and the literary will hopefully make for a highly stimulating and interesting master-class in creative writing at Bellshill Cultural Centre.
“Kathrine’s unique position as both a visual artist and a writer will hopefully give participants the skills to bring their ideas and stories to life through simple exercises and evaluation to produce richly textured set pieces.”
The master class runs from 10am–1pm and costs £5.
