A MOTHERWELL woman is urging people to be aware of the symptoms of meningitis after almost dying from the disease at New Year.
Patricia Gill (42) was rushed to hospital by her partner Bernie McGuire who had a gut feeling there was something seriously wrong with her.
After suffering from shingles and feeling under the weather, Patricia’s condition took a turn for the worse on New Year’s Day.
She had been vomiting for a couple of days and started to suffer neck pain and headache.
She said: “I was having trouble to support my head but I just wanted to try to sleep it off. Because my condition was deteriorating rapidly, Bernie decided to ring NHS Direct who told her to take me to see a GP at the hospital.”
