A CHURCH in Viewpark is about to undergo a major £800,000 refurbishment.

The centrepiece of the Viewpark Parish Church development will be the creation of a new cafeteria, a facility the church believes is much needed in the area.

In addition the overhaul will include new meeting and activity spaces and new toilets, the church's existing large hall will be refurbished and the complex will have a new and more efficient heating system.

The works will complete the upgrading of the complex which began with the refurbishment of the church itself following damage to the building's ceiling in 2007.

Minister Rev Michael Lyall said everyone at the church was excited about the proposed developments.

He said: "This will allow us to provide better services for the large number of church and community organisations that already use the accommodation at modest or no cost."
