THE official ceremony to
mark the opening of the new £18 million Uddingston Grammar School has taken place.
The school has been operational since last January but Friday's ceremony marked the formal opening.

It was performed by Central Scotland list MSP Alex Neil who unveiled a special plaque while staff and pupils were also joined by the school's former headteachers, local councillors and other guests.

Headteacher John McKay said: "Uddingston Grammar has always provided an excellent quality of service for the young people of the area.

"To say you are a Grammar pupil means something and we are proud to begin a new journey in our new home towards new horizons."

Mr Neil said: "It was an honour to open the new Uddingston Grammar and I was delighted to see the good work John McKay and his team are doing there."
