Centenarian Mrs Jean Milligan was in top form for her special day at Uddingston’s Croftbank House Care Home.

Born on August 16, 1913, the second eldest of six girls, in 1948 she married her husband Bill - who tragically died when she was only 48, leaving her with four children aged between eight and 20.

She had previously worked in a lawyer’s office and returned to work, this time as a school secretary.

The greatest loves in her life are her family, gardening, and pets - especially dogs.

With her to celebrate her 100th birthday were (front, left to right), Deputy Lord Lieutenant Louis Munn, Provost Eileen Logan and (rear) councillors Maureen Devlin and Anne Kegg.
