Visit Viewpark Gardens for two days of free summer fun tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday.

Running from 10am-4pm on both days Viewpark Summer Fun offers all sorts of family entertainment with kiddies’ rides and a bouncy castle, face painting, arts, crafts and other play activities to get involved in.

The Countryside Rangers will be on hand with loads of nature and environmental goings-on and, for a touch of sport, North Lanarkshire Leisure has a host of fun things to try.

The stage will host a combination of music and children’s entertainers - drop by to enjoy magicians, clowns and balloon modelling.

Enjoy a wander round Viewpark Gardens, admire the glasshouse exotics and all the other areas in their early summer splendour.

And after all that, finish off with a visit to the cafe to refresh and refuel.

Councillor Helen McKenna, convener of the environmental service committee, said: “The festival offers a great day out and I would encourage everyone to go along and enjoy a fun-filled day out in the beautiful surroundings.”

Meanwhile, the Bothwell Community Garden Open Day takes place on Saturday, June 11.

The event is run by the Organic Growers of Bothwell and the garden will be officially opened by former village GP and keen amateur gardener Dr Ken Chisholm at 1pm in the presence of gardening enthusiates and their families, local councillors and supporters of the garden.

The gates open to the public from 2-5pm when there will be tours of the garden, along with stalls and light refreshments available.
