Try experimenting with a museum visit this weekend

Motherwell Heritage Centre goes experimental this weekend when it takes part in the Scotland-wide Festival of Museums event.

The festival aims to encourage the use of the country’s museums through a national programme of events and activities for all ages and interests.

Under the ‘Get Active’ banner, the heritage centre will be celebrating the weekend with two days marking Scotland’s scientific achievements. The programme will include hands-on demonstrations of simple experiments, a Great Scots gallery where visitors can learn about Scottish inventors and an Inventors’ Lab with a friendly local scientist and displays of some ‘home-grown’ inventions.

There will also be a free ‘invention design’ competition.

The ‘Get Active’ events are being held between 11am and 4pm on Saturday and from noon to 4pm on Sunday and admission is free.

For local details call 01236 638353 and for the national programme visit www.festivalofmuseums.com.
