THE spirit of the season is already with Our Lady’s HSFPA Light Opera Society as rehearsals begin for A Christmas Carol – the Musical.

The sparkling and energetic musical adaptation of one of Charles Dickens’s most famous novels is being presented by the Lanarkshire club as a fitting climax to its Golden Jubilee year.

This version of the musical, which has never been presented in the county before, is composed by Alan Menken, the writer of Broadway classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, Sister Act the Musical and Tangled.

The lyrics are written by Lynn Ahrens whose many credits include Ragtime and Seussical – the Musical.

With a talented and enthusiastic cast which includes the miserable miser Scrooge, his hard-up employee Bob Cratchit, sickly Tiny Tim, scary ghosts, street urchins and many other colourful characters plus a fifteen strong orchestra performing a great musical score, A Christmas Carol is sure to get your festive season off to a flying start.

The show runs from November 5-10 in Motherwell Theatre, including a Saturday matinee, and tickets are available now from Christine Kelly on 01698 733502 or visit Our Lady’s Opera
