Five Motherwell DJs have been invited to perform at Scotland’s biggest dance music festival next month.
Jordan Irwin, Josh Hill and William Bonner (collectively the Violet Rockstars) and Andy Raeside join dozens of the world’s top DJs for Coloursfest 2013.
A fifth Ross ‘Maxi’ Maxwell, who regularly partners Jordan, is also booked, but faces a race against time to be fit following a car crash last week.
The event, now in it’s 11th year, takes place at Braehead Arena and Waterfront across six arenas on Saturday, June 1, from 5pm-4am, headlined by Laidback Luke, John O’Callaghan and George Bowie.
William said: “There’s probably 20 DJs locally who could have performed at Coloursfest so for myself and Josh to have been asked is great.
“We’ve worked hard over the past decade to build up our reputation and have performed at several dance festivals like Ministry in London.
“There is nothing better than leading 10,000 people, DJing is an art, it isn’t just a case of sticking on some records and it’s an incredible feeling when you get it right.
“Andy Raeside is great inspiration to the rest of us as one of the most credible members in the Scottish dance scene, and it would be immense to achieve all that he has.”
Jordan is pleased to get the opportunity, and is hopeful he won’t have to go it alone.
He said: “This is a really big step up, myself and Maxi have done a lot of nights for Colours, but Coloursfest is a different level.
“We’re still in our early 20s so to be given the opportunity already is brilliant and aim to repay the faith put in us.
“We were all worried when we heard about Maxi’s accident, but his injuries don’t sound as bad as first feared so hopefully he’ll make it.”
