A SPECIAL concert was held recently in memory of a music teacher who spent more than 50 years serving as organist in Viewpark’s Burnhead Parish Church.

The life of Edith Ferguson was celebrated at the concert in Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral, Motherwell, which attracted re-knowned former students including film composer Patrick Doyle and conductors Janet Young and Des McLean.

The musical tribute was also the final performance of the Ferguson Choral Ensemble for women founded by Edith in 1992.

In addition to performing in local churches, the Ferguson Choral Ensemble for women, achieved great acclaim by linking with St Petersburg Band and Brass Quintet.
