Music man Ross in his Prime as he meets up with Mandela

MOTHERWELL-born musician Ross Learmonth is certainly making a name for himself in the world of rock'n' roll.

Local residents might not recognise his name, but the 26-year-old has a string of top hits – including three number ones – under his belt.

Ross moved to South Africa as a toddler and now fronts the phenomenally successful Prime Circle, the country's answer to the likes of Metallica and the Goo Goo Dolls.

Such is the band's success that they were asked to play at Nelson Mandela's massive 46664 AIDS charity concert in Johannesburg – and even got to meet the great man himself.

Ross, Prime Circle's main songwriter, is returning to the UK for a tour of London, marking the release of the band's fourth album, All or Nothing.

Ross still has relatives in the Motherwell area and they are very proud of his achievements.

More information on the band can be found by logging on to www.primecircle.co.za
