MOTHERWELL College music students are working with Cumbernauld College film and sound engineering students to run a ‘Jools Holland-style’ event at the Cornerstone House Theatre in Cumbernauld tomorrow (Thursday).

The Cornerstone House Rock Show at noon will see HND music students filmed performing on three different stages, which will be broadcast live on Cumbernauld College Radio.

The students will then work together in compiling a DVD of the event set for release later this year.

The idea for the Cornerstone gig came following the huge success of the Wallace Monument gig in Stirling last year, when Motherwell students became the first to ever perform inside the landmark itself, filmed by students from Cumbernauld.

David McShane, head of department for beauty, sport and performing arts at Motherwell College, said: “Following the success of the HND music students, the department is proud to be showcasing their creative talents at the Cornerstone House Theatre.

“The collaboration with Cumbernauld College has been hugely beneficial to both sets of learners to date.”

It has been an extremely busy academic year for the HND music students, who are also gearing up to perform on top of Princes Mall in Edinburgh on Saturday, March 30.

Then they will begin preparations for their end of year showcase event in King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow, Friday, May 3.
