Busy fiddler proves he has spirit
BOTHWELL fiddler John McCusker has had another busy year working with the likes of Mark Knopfler and Idlewild and has been nominated for a Spirit of Scotland Award.
However, he isn't ready to stop just yet and will join Eddi Reader at the Homecoming Scotland show in Glasgow on Saturday (November 28) and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra's A History of Scotland show at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on Sunday (November 29).
He will then team up with regular collaborators Kris Drever and Roddy Woomble for a short tour including a performance at Oran Mor in Glasgow on December 15.
Then it's back to Edinburgh for two shows at Edinburgh's Queens Hall with Phil Cunningham's Christmas songbook on December 21 and 22 as well as the capital's annual Hogmanay show.
John spent much of the year touring with Eddi Reader, Woomble and Drever plus producing and playing on records with a whole host of artists including Mark Knopfler, Idlewild, Reader, Boo Hewerdine, Drever, Calum Malcolm and Teenage Fanclub.
Next year he will tour all over Europe with year Knopfler and play some UK and Ireland shows with Heidi Talbot.
