A NEW exhibition called ‘Let’s Celebrate’ is set to open at North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre in Motherwell this summer.
The exhibition opens at the beginning of July and runs until the end of October to coincide with Celebrating Lanarkshire 2013, which recognises and celebrates the county’s achievements over the last 200 years.
Curators are currently looking for objects and stories from local residents on all aspects of ‘celebration’ and would like anyone who would like to contribute to the displays to contact them.
Gillian Brogan, learning and access officer, said: “The exhibition will feature a variety of family and religious celebrations including births, christenings, birthdays, coming-of-age celebrations as well as weddings, anniversaries, graduations and religious festivals.
“Our displays will examine how we celebrate the good times in our lives. It will take a look at how customs and traditions both vary between cultures and change over time within households.”
“If you have a family story to tell, or even have an object or film footage that you’d be willing to lend us for the exhibition, then please contact me on 01698 274715 or e-mail by the end of May.”
A series of school and family events will run in the heritage centre throughout the exhibition.
